Stash busting!

Well I've been a bad blogger lately. And still no pictures. The good news is that I made a real dent in my fabric stash in the past two weeks. I got a new skirt pattern, and cut four variations of it. I also got a good start on my Halloween costume, a plan for my darling husband's costume, and an apron cut. One of the skirts is completely finished (side zip, hem, and all!), one of them is seamed, the other two are patiently waiting. I don't know what I was thinking, as one of them is a white embroidered linen. I may actually put off sewing that one until spring, in the vain hope that I'll lose some weight before then. The other three are much more appropriate to fall and winter. The green is still a linen blend, but in southern Louisiana, it'll be fine. I will, eventually, put up some pictures.

Oh, I've also been rather industrious on our little nephew's Christmas gift, which is a blanket composed of knit squares, which are much more easily handled than a whole blanket all at once. At this rate, I'll be able to start on husband's scarf (Dr. Who scarf-20' long!, which will probably be done in Vanna's Choice--yay, washability) before the holidays. Once that's done, my next knitting project will probably be the Gold Nugget Shawl by Elann, knit in their Nilo.

I have the fabric for a few more lounge-y dresses that I just haven't played with, mostly because it was bought on a whim, and the colors don't thrill me. They'll be summery, but I can wear them around the house year-round. I'm considering trying the sharpie-tie-dye method on at least one of them. We'll see how adventurous I get with it.

Oh, and that polka dot McCall's dress got packed away for the hurricane, and as it's predominantly white, and cotton, may get put off until spring, as well. That'll depend upon whether or not I have an occasion to wear it beforehand.

But overall: great progress. Lots of scraps. I'm considering quilting some of them together, perhaps for a bag, but I'm well beyond the stage of needing to keep and hoard every single piece of fabric I snip away.

New Project

So I still need to photograph my last few projects, however last night I did cast on for this: http://kellymaher.wordpress.com/2007/07/04/ribbed-lace-bolero/ which I'm very excited about. I'm doing it in black 100% cotton, as I couldn't find a cotton acrylic blend in black anywhere. I haven't decided if I'm going to do the same lace pattern or not, but I'm a slow knitter, so I have some time to decide. It's mostly for work, and mostly for the black and white dress that I'm about halfway done with. It's my second version of a McCall's pattern that I'm in love with. More info on that to come.

Let's see how this works...

This is a crafty blog...for all of my various adventures in sewing, knitting, embroidery, and any other crafty-type thing I happen to be doing at any given moment. I'll update progress, post finished pictures, and hopefully motivate myself to finish all the projects I start. Currently, I've got a stack of swap crafts to get done in the next two weeks, in addition to a cute polka-dot dress that's about 1/3 done (McCall's pattern...I'll post the # later), a matching wrist purse, and an embroidered wrist purse that's only half-embroidered.

So let's see what happens!
